Some photographs are about action. Others are about what happens before the action begins.
This image was created inside a working Wyoming ranch barn where the tools of the trade patiently waited for another day's work. The worn leather, softened by years of use, tells a story that no words can fully capture. Every scratch, crease, and weathered edge represents long days in the saddle, early mornings, and a life built on grit and determination.
I was drawn to the repetition of the saddles hanging in line, each one similar yet uniquely shaped by the cowboy who rode it. Using selective focus allowed the nearest saddle to stand out while the others drifted softly into the background, creating a sense of depth and reflection. The warm tones of the barn and leather add to the feeling of history and tradition.
For me, this image is less about equipment and more about legacy. It's a reminder that the cowboy way is built one ride, one season, and one generation at a time.
