Some photographs are carefully planned. Others happen when preparation meets opportunity.
On this evening at Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City, I found myself drawn to the iconic lighthouse as the setting sun began to transform the sky. The clouds scattered the remaining light into layers of gold, orange, and blue, creating a dramatic backdrop for one of the city's most recognizable landmarks.
What makes this image special is the balance between strength and serenity. The lighthouse stands firm against the horizon while the water reflects the fading colors of the day. It's a reminder that even in a constantly changing world, some things remain steady and dependable.
For me, landscape photography has always been about more than documenting a location. It's about capturing a feeling. Standing there as daylight faded, watching the colors shift minute by minute, I was reminded once again that nature often puts on its greatest show just before darkness arrives.
This image celebrates that fleeting moment between day and night when the world seems to pause and simply glow.
